Press One for English


Jeff Kaiser sent this to me, and at first I thought it was another immigrant bash. But after watching, I didn't take it that way. Has anyone else noticed the absurdity of having to "Press ONE for english" when calling a local American company?

It's absurd that a business wishes to maximize profits by catering to those who are not fluent in English?

Is that a question? Because if it is, the definitive answer is maybe.

Actually, the issue is customer service. When I call a business there should be a human being on the other end that answers the phone and either helps me in some way, or transfers me to someone who can. This phone-answering person who should be redirecting the call of someone who can't speak english. This is great customer service for everyone involved. My beef is not with someone not speaking english, my beef is with the poor customer service that takes me through pre-recorded messages to get someone to help me.
