The Salt Creek Fire - July, 2007

When Salt Creek Canyon was ablaze I went to the edge of town and aimed my camera towards Fountain Green. The city lights you see are those of Fountain Green. By order of the Fire Marshall the citizens were all packed and ready to evacuate when the winds shifted and they were allowed to stay. A week or so later, heavy rains came down and helped douse the fire but also sent a flood of mud and ash into the home of the richest man in town, flowing right through his basement, and when it had stopped, his basement was filled to ground level with hard-pack mud.

"The rains came down and the basement filled up, the rains came down and the basement filled up, the rains came down and the basement filled up, but the house on the rock stood still."-Eric
