Trooper David Heywood Heading to Washington D.C.

When president elect Barack Obama is inaugurated on January 20, dozens
of Utah Highway Patrol troopers will be there for the historic ceremony.
Forty UHP troopers have been asked to help with crowd control and law
enforcement as inauguration organizers expect millions of people to attend
the ceremony.
"It will be exciting, it will be a historic time," said Lt. Chris Simmons, one of
the troopers who will travel to Washington D.C.
The UHP troopers are among the 4,000 extra officers from 96 different
agencies being brought in to help handle the crowds.
"We're taking forty of the best, well-trained state troopers," said Simmons.
Those troopers will be paired with an officer from Washington’s Metro Police Force.
Troopers said they don't know exactly what they will be doing when they get there. It’s likely they will be stationed
along the parade route.
No matter how they are involved, Lt. Simmons said he is just excited to be a part of history.
"It means a lot to me, I think it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to say that I was a part of the inauguration," said Lt.
Simmons.
