Minerva Teichert: Pageants in Paint examines Teichert's narrative paintings against a background of two specific cultural practices that influenced their formation - the movement to place murals in America's public buildings in the early twentieth century and again in the 1930s and the American pageantry movement that spawned hundreds of pageants across the nation in the first half of the twentieth century. It also considers her personal dramatic flair and certain theatrical characteristics of her murals.
