Guess who?
Guess who's LSU's offensive coordinator? His spread attack has produced the most points in LSU history. His current players call him "The Wizard."
yep, Gary Crowton.

I was watching a show last night that is no longer aired except for Re runs... It is "Third Watch". It was an episode where one of the firefighters was promoted to a supervisor position. He was a really good firefighter, but in his new position, he was making poor decisions and lost trust in his crew. Not everyone is cut out to be a leader. This was Crowton's problem. Before BYU, he had success. And since his departure he has had success. The difference, I believe, is that he was the Head Coach at BYU. He made poor decisions. Ones that cost him the trust of his fans and players. Just to point out a few: penalties due to lack of discipline, crappy defensive schemes, good play calling, however gambled to much in tight situations (4th down). He also did not trust his coordinators to handle play calling and tried to do everything by himself. As an offensive coordinator, he can focus on what he is best at and not have the pressure of all facets of the game. A good coach trusts his players as well as his staff and deviates from doing everything all on his own. anyways, enough rambling from me. I'm not a coach, so this is just my opinion.
I think you're correct. Good commentary.
I read recently that Bronco went 11-2 last year with Crowton's recruits. Many players on his 11-2 team this year were also Crowton's recruits. I often wonder what would have happened if Crowton had been told to buckle down on discipline and allowed to coach out a few more years.
Having said that, though, I think Crowton is in a better situation and Bronco is the right man for BYU football.
I work with a guy named Gary.
