There had been an increasingly darker spot developing in the middle of the old kitchen floor. It looks like a drain, perhaps, that the old owners filled in with a type of cement that really didn't "seal" out the moisture, and was by the time we scraped up the flooring, was moist and soft like modeling clay that's been left out for a while. We determined that the Suntouch Warming Wire would keep it dry under the ceramic tile we were putting down over it.

There was also a "hole" under the old vinyl flooring close to the above weird thing. The linoleum was eventually perforated from above by chair feet and such. You can see this perforation in the vinyl in the top photo.This corner of the kitchen actually slopes and is about two inches lower than the back door that is only about six feet away.

I had photos of the results of a self-leveling cement that we poured in this corner to help with the sloping. Somehow I left them out. I estimated we only needed one twenty five pound bag. We bought two just in case. We actually could have used five or six. But at a dollar a pound, we left it at fifty dollars worth of leveling.
